LEAD THE WAY WITH GLASS REINFORCED PLASTIC.

Fiberglass grating, GRP profiles, and complete fiberglass structures. For a lighter future without corrosion.

Fiberglass – the building material of the future.

Fiberglass (Glass Reinforced Polymer) is, at its core, like any other building material. You can easily construct entire structures that withstand loads at least as high as those made from, for example, galvanized or stainless steel. However, fiberglass comes with several key advantages: it is lightweight, strong, chemical-resistant, and above all, corrosion-free.In environments with a high risk of corrosion, fiberglass is therefore the obvious choice. It saves time, money, and resources – and creates a safer workplace for both employees and visitors.

Hence fiberglass.

Advantages.

Strong advantages of fiberglass.

Glass Reinforced Plastic (GRP) is a durable material with many positive properties. The offshore industry, chemical industry, power plants, boats, and storage tanks have used fiberglass for many, many years. There are many reasons why – here are just a few of them:

Corrosion free.

Fiberglass is 100% corrosion-free and is perfectly suited for operations that handle acids, gases, or chemicals, or that are exposed to saltwater, low temperatures, and harsh weather conditions.

GulCirkelVikt icon

Low weight.

Fiberglass weighs approximately one third as much as steel. This makes both handling and installation easier, resulting in a final solution that does not place as high demands on the foundation.

GulCirkelKurva icon

High strength.

Despite its low weight, fiberglass has high strength, allowing you to build everything from stairs, ladders, walkways, access balconies, bridges, and ramps.

GulCirkelPilar icon

Load bearing both horizontally and vertically.

The fibers run in both directions. Unlike traditional grating, fiberglass grating is therefore load-bearing both horizontally and vertically. It is also possible to leave open mesh sections without the grating losing its load-bearing capacity.

GulCirkelFarg icon

Chemical resistant.

Fiberglass withstands most chemicals. The resin can also be adjusted to tailor both grating and profiles to specific requirements.

GulCirkelSkiftnyckel icon

Maintenance free.

Fiberglass has an extremely long service life and requires neither sandblasting, painting, nor other maintenance to maintain its strength.

GulCirkelBlixt icon

Non conductive.

Fiberglass is an insulator, which means it does not conduct electricity. Therefore, there is no need to ground the product. In addition, no sparks are generated during processing, making it easy to build and adapt the structure directly on site.

GulCirkelTemp icon

Temperature resistant.

GRP is highly temperature resistant and is not weakened by cold, making the material suitable even in cold environments.

GulCirkelEld icon

Good fire protection properties.

The material itself is self-extinguishing. There is also an EX-rated fiberglass grating available.

GulCirkelSkiftnyckel icon

Easy to process.

When it comes to processing, fiberglass can be compared to hardwood. This means that both grating, individual profiles, and entire structures can be easily assembled and adapted directly on site.

GulCirkelSol icon

Cost effective.

Fiberglass has a long service life and minimal maintenance requirements, making it a more durable and cost-effective material compared to many other construction materials.

Good anti slip properties.

We offer both grit coated and concave fiberglass grating. Both have a slip resistance rating of R13, providing extra safety when it is needed most.

Our customers.

We have delivered grating and fiberglass structures to businesses across everything from industry and offshore to water and energy sectors.

Resistant to chemicals.

Resistant to chemicals.

How can we ensure that the fiberglass products we deliver can withstand the chemicals and gases handled at your facility? We offer several different resins and compositions, all with distinct material advantages. The three most common compositions are isophthalic polyester, orthophthalic polyester, and vinyl ester. Isophthalic polyester is slightly more expensive than orthophthalic polyester but offers higher temperature resistance and better resistance to UV radiation. Vinyl ester has a stronger molecular chain structure and is therefore even more resistant to aggressive chemicals. To make it as clear as possible, we have compiled a detailed list showing the resistance levels of the different compositions/resins to various chemicals. You can find it here.
Robust structures in fiberglass.

Robust structures in fiberglass.

Fiberglass can withstand very high loads, and it is easy to calculate which type of fiberglass grating should be used to meet your load requirements. Unlike steel grating, fiberglass will deflect under excessive loads but will never break in the middle. At most, cracks may occur, and in such cases, the affected section can easily be replaced. We provide load tables for all our fiberglass gratings. The tables specify point load, uniformly distributed load, and the safety factor at crack formation. Keep in mind that the grating needs to be supported on two sides, but since GRP grating is load-bearing in all directions, it can be installed in any orientation. It is also equally strong with open mesh as with closed mesh.
Load.

How to read load tables.

Span width.

Indicates the distance between supports – that is, the span where the grating is unsupported. You must have supports on at least two sides, either the long side or the short side. The figures in the table are suggested spans to illustrate how the grating performs.

Concentrated load.

Indicates how the grating responds to point loads, meaning high loads applied over a small area. The weights shown in the table indicate the load that the grating (with the specific span shown in the table) can withstand before it begins to deflect by 2 mm or more. This does not mean that the grating will crack or break.

Distributed load.

Indicates how the grating responds to heavy loads distributed over a larger area. The weights shown in the table indicate the load that the grating (again referring to the grating with the specific span shown in the table) can withstand before it deflects by 2 mm or more. This does not mean that the grating will crack or break.

Safety factor.

The same principle applies to both point loads and distributed loads: the figure indicates how many times the grating can be subjected to maximum load before its fibers may have been sufficiently damaged to potentially fail.
