Work Environment Policy

1. INTRODUCTION AND PURPOSE.Safestep shall be a safe, secure, and sustainable workplace where all employees are given the conditions to feel well, develop, and perform their work in a safe and professional manner.This Work Environment Policy describes how Safestep manages work environment matters and forms the foundation of the company’s systematic work environment management. The policy covers the physical, organizational, and social work environment and applies to all employees, temporary staff, and partners operating within Safestep’s business.Work environment management is an integrated part of Safestep’s daily operations and is a prerequisite for quality, delivery reliability, and long-term customer relationships.2. FUNDAMENTAL PRINCIPLES.Safestep’s work environment management is based on the following principles:- The work environment shall be safe, healthy, and inclusive
– Risks shall be prevented – not managed after the fact
– Work environment considerations shall be included in all decisions, from planning to execution
– Everyone shall feel safe reporting deficiencies, incidents, and accidents
– Work environment management shall be characterized by openness, participation, and responsibilityIf this policy conflicts with laws or regulations, applicable legislation shall always prevail.3. RESPONSIBILITY AND ORGANIZATION.Employer’s responsibility:
– Safestep has overall responsibility for the work environment and shall:
– Conduct systematic work environment management in accordance with the Work Environment Act
– Ensure compliance with laws, regulations, and authority requirements
– Provide safe premises, work equipment, and protective equipment
– Ensure employees have the correct training, competence, and instructions
– Prevent ill health, accidents, and incidents
– Provide occupational health services when needed
Managers and supervisors are responsible for:-Planning, leading, and following up work from a work environment perspective
– Carrying out risk assessments prior to work tasks and projects
– Ensuring routines are followed and protective equipment is use
– Acting promptly in response to reported risks or incidentsz
– Being available for dialogue regarding the work environment, well-being, and workloadEmployee responsibility:-Follow applicable safety procedures, instructions, and policies
– Use prescribed protective equipment
– Participate in work environment management
– Report risks, incidents, and accidents
– Contribute to order, safety, and a respectful working climate
4. PHYSICAL WORK ENVIRONMENT AND SAFETY.Safestep shall provide:- Appropriate and safe premises
– Machines and tools that are inspected and maintained
– Clear procedures for warehousing, installation, and transportation
– Personal protective equipment adapted to each work task
Order and cleanliness are key safety factors. All employees are expected to contribute to keeping workplaces clean, structured, and free from unnecessary risks.5. CHEMICALS, MACHINERY, AND WORK TASKS.Work involving chemicals, machinery, and hazardous tasks shall always be preceded by a risk assessment. Safestep ensures that:
– Chemicals are correctly labeled and stored
– Safety data sheets are available
– Only trained personnel handle hazardous tasks
– Hazardous waste is managed in accordance with applicable regulations
– Transportation of chemicals is carried out safely and correctly6. ORGANIZATIONAL AND SOCIAL WORK ENVIRONMENT.Safestep shall be a workplace characterized by:- Respect, professionalism, and care
– Open and clear communication
– Equality and equal treatment
– Zero tolerance for victimization, discrimination, and harassment
Workload shall be reasonable, and a balance between work and recovery shall be promoted. Employees are encouraged to raise early signals of stress, ill health, or reduced well-being.
7. REPORTING OF ACCIDENTS, INCIDENTS, AND RISKS.
All incidents, accidents, and risk observations must be reported immediately. Reporting is a prerequisite for preventive work and is viewed as a responsibility – not as blame.In the event of serious accidents, emergency services must be contacted immediately.
8. OCCUPATIONAL HEALTH SERVICES.Safestep cooperates with occupational health services to offer:- Health examinations
– Ergonomic support
– Rehabilitation and workplace adjustments
– Counseling support for stress or mental ill health9. FOLLOW-UP.This Work Environment Policy shall be reviewed regularly and revised when necessary, at least once per year. Work environment management is a living process that develops alongside the business.
