Anti-slip devices and heating mats
– all for a safer winter.
Heated snow melting mats, anti-slip stair nosing profiles and fiberglass anti-slip boards. Three products for a safer winter.
The season for
slip and fall accidents
is here.
Winter is here! And with it comes the slip and fall accidents. Did you know that every winter, around 25,000 people slip and fall so badly that they have to seek medical attention? Most falls and slips happen in December, January and February. We can’t have that!
Icy walkways, wet ramps, slippery stairs and snow-covered entrances are some of the most common hazards. “Walk like a penguin” as the saying goes.
No, we say. Walk like a normal person, just make sure to equip the most accident-prone environments properly.
So here’s a guide with tips and tricks on how to equip your staircase, ramp, walkway or entrance with products that actually make a difference. Durable and sustainable products that will, in one way or another, make life a little easier this winter.
Simple snow melting.
Heated snow melting mats.
Here’s how it works.
Safestep’s heating mats are connected to a standard grounded 230V electrical outlet. Once plugged in, the mat maintains a temperature that keeps it free of snow and ice – regardless of the outside temperature. The mats can be placed on any surface and plugged in throughout the winter months.
Connect the mats in series.
All our heating mats are designed to be connected in series. This means that you can connect several mats in one long series – with one and the same power cable, connected to one and the same power socket. This applies to all mats, regardless of size. So a 27 x 95 cm mat can be connected to a 100 x 150 cm mat – no problem.
3 advantages of heating mats.
Unique heating technology.
Safety in winter.
Efficient, energy-efficient and smart.
Four smart sizes.
A smaller mat developed primarily for placement on stairs, under the air heat pump and on other less ice-prone surfaces.
50 x 120 cm.
An oblong mat perfect for walkways outside the home, in the condominium association, in spa or pool areas and outside entrances.
60 x 100 cm.
Ideal for walkways, surface structures and as an entrance or door mat.
100 x 150 cm.
A larger mat suitable for ramps, walkways, walkways, surface structures, pipes and entrances.
Anti-slip protection for stairs.
Non-slip stair nosings.
That’s how stair nosings work.
Safestep’s fiberglass anti-slip strips are durable, hard-wearing and slip-resistant profiles that are placed at the front of the step – on the so-called stair nosing – and provide strong anti-slip protection where it is needed most. On wooden stairs they can be easily screwed in place, and on stone and concrete stairs they can be attached with either screws and dowels or mounting adhesive.
The stair nosings are made of fiberglass, a material that can withstand weather, wind, sun, salt and strong chemicals. Once in place, they will provide good protection for many, many years.
Contrast marking to boot.
By choosing a different, contrasting color for the strips installed on the top and last step of a staircase, you can easily adapt the staircase for accessibility – and thus increase safety even more. It makes it easier for everyone, especially people with visual impairments, to see where the stairs start and end.
Anti-slip protection for ramps and footbridges.
Moldings and panels in fiberglass.
Our anti-slip strips, which we call IDUN, are 50 mm wide strips that are screwed or glued to piers, attics and terraces. Like the stair nosings, IDUN can withstand rain, sun, ice, salt and chemicals without any maintenance requirements. All that is required is to make sure they are not completely covered in snow. A brush or broom and you’re home.
Anti-slip boards.
For larger areas, such as walkways and ramps, it can be convenient to have full boards. Then we have our FRIGG anti-slip board, which is available in two different sizes depending on the size of the area: 1200 x 800 mm and 2000 x 1000 mm. The boards are flexible and smooth, and provide an even result without joints or level differences.
