Sports for all.
The sports halls’ sports hall.
The municipality of Österåker, close to nature and just northeast of Stockholm, is one multi-purpose hall richer. It took 26 months for the developer Armada Kommunfastigheter together with the turnkey contractor In3prenör to complete the 13,000 m2 building, which consists of no less than six sports halls, cafés, social areas and meeting rooms.
When you hear that, 26 months suddenly doesn’t sound like such a long time. Especially when you also start thinking about how many different functions the new building fulfills. There’s everything from regular basketball courts and gymnasiums, to high climbing walls and large stands that can hold up to 2000 spectators.
No, when you start to get a taste of it, it’s actually very impressive that it’s happened so quickly. So many different parts, steps and actors were called in to complete the building – and yet such a smooth process.
A unique project.
The multi-arena is something extraordinary – as a finished building but also as a construction project. It’s also one of the largest projects we’ve been involved in. As the fast construction time suggests, it was also important for us to act efficiently, so when In3prenör contacted us at the beginning of December 2021, we quickly agreed: Contrast markings in stainless steel with black PVD coating for sufficient contrast against the substrate, while at the same time getting a nice and durable finish. To withstand as high a load as possible, we chose markings with pins, which are drilled into the floor and fixed with mounting glue. In addition, we decided to match the contrasting markings with stainless steel rods with black inserts.
Two weeks after we started the work, 3000 contrast markers and 520 guide rods were installed, just in time for the inspection.
