Tactile routes are an important part of the accessibility of public buildings and premises. The routes are both visual and tactile and lead to important destinations such as elevators, toilets, reception and stairwells.
Tactile pathways with colored inserts.
Safestep KÅBO is our product range in stainless steel with colored polyurethane inserts. The range includes tactile handrails, stop markings and contrast markings with different colors and fixings.
Polyurethane tactile markers are a maintenance-free option with the same positive material benefits as our stainless steel markers – durable, weather resistant and suitable for high traffic areas both outdoors and indoors. The rods are made of stainless steel and have a colored insert that allows them to provide good contrast on both light and dark floors.
Black on white.
The inserts are available in white and black and have a perforated surface. The rods are available in three different designs and can be mounted with 3M tape, screws or mounting glue.
Important to remember: According to the Swedish National Board of Housing, Building and Planning’s recommendations and general advice, public premises should be provided with logical pathways that lead between selected target points. In open areas such as station buildings, receptions and foyers, there should be coherent tactile and visual pathways. The paths should provide directional orientation and safely guide us in the right direction – past obstacles and to the destination points.
The tactile beacons should also be installed with different materials and a brightness contrast of at least 0.4 NCS – either lighter or darker than the surroundings. Read more about all the rules and recommendations for tactile beacons here – or download our guide below under Documents.
